A curved ritual knife used for carving magickal tools and cutting and preparing ingredients for magickal workings, celebrations or devotions. Some traditions say that herbs should only be cut with a boline.
The handle is often white in contrast to the black handle of the athame. Also called a boleen, boline or burrin, this tool is associated with the masculine side of nature because it is used for mundane and preparatory ritual actions. _________________

THE BELL:
It has been believed for centuries to possess a magical and/or spiritual power. They are associated with the divine: their sound is symbolic of creative power, their shape a symbol of the female force and celestial vault. The bell is an uncommon tool. Yet, once you use it in a ritual, you might just feel the need to keep using it. There is no one way to use the bell, use your imagination! Here are a few ideas; you can use it to open and close the sacred circle, Invoke the Goddess, ring to ward off negative energies (as well as invite positive energies ), or use it to signal different sections of a ritual and/or Sabbat. But most of all have fun, create your own rituals using the bell! (bell thoughts submitted by Rain')

Burning Times, The
A historical reference to the era around 1000 CE through the 17th century when over nine million people were tortured and burned by church and public authorities under the accusation of being Witches (the Christian, Satan worshipping stereotype of a witch, not for being actual witches).
This killing spree became quite profitable, as the individual who turned in a witch got a part of the accused's property (reward money), while the rest was diverted to the Church. Records and historians show that most of the people murdered were women and children.
