So it's here at last........... the Beijing Olympics ~ the most lavish and most politicised games ever ~ kick off today, on a date chosen especially because of it's apparent significance.

I think the politics surrounding these games far outways those in the 1980's when everyone was boycotting them.

Anybody interested in the games?? Are there any particualr sports you like watching? Or do you think it's a total waste of time and load of rubbish?

To be honest, I do enjoy the games for the athletes.  For the most part, they just want to do what they have trained for.  I hate all of the politics that have taken over the games, but sadly what can we do?  I hate how some of the countries that are given the privilege to "host" the games do whatever they want, including destroying homes of others, just to make an impressive venue.  That is wrong...

As for events I enjoy...I love any that include horses and my daughter the swimmer likes the swimming events.  No others that are that important to me.
