CHILD OF THE GODDESS

Why does the world laugh in my face?
What have I done to earn such disgrace?

I’m a child of the goddess if they only could see,
But they choose to ignore it so they’ll never know me.

Why won’t the skeptics just let me be?
When will they learn to see the real me?

I’m a child of the goddess if they only could see,
But they choose to ignore it so they’ll never know me.

They say "Witches are foolish, a myth from the past.
From a time of great legend, and legends don’t last."

I’m a child of the goddess if they only could see,
But they choose to ignore it so they’ll never know me.

They call me a dreamer, a foolhardy child.
Full of mischievousness, not meek and not mild.

I’m a child of the goddess if they only could see,
But they choose to ignore it so they’ll never know me.

They wander through the wilderness in grief and despair.
If they’d open their eyes they’d know that I’m there.

I’m a child of the goddess if they only could see,
But they choose to ignore it so they’ll never know me.

They rule with their Bibles, with fear and with fright.
But if they read what was written, they’d know that’s not right.

I’m a child of the goddess if they only could see,
But they choose to ignore it so they’ll never know me.

My life ended quickly nailed to a tree
They scoffed and they persecuted and then murdered me

I’m a child of the goddess if they only could see,
But they choose to ignore it so they’ll never know me.

They took what I taught them and twisted my word
They covered their misdeeds but they new what they heard

I’m a child of the goddess if they only could see,
But they choose to ignore it so they’ll never know me.

Let them have their dogma their lie will not last
And soon they may find themselves lost to the past

I’m a child of the goddess if they only could see,
But they choose to ignore it so they’ll never know me.

I offered them peace, wisdom and light
But they chose their own path, a dark endless night

I’m a child of the goddess if they only could see,
But they choose to ignore it so they’ll never know me.

I weep for my lost ones, my sorrow grows by day
But they were given free choice and they lost their way

I’m a child of the goddess if they only could see,
But they choose to ignore it so they’ll never know me.

My story was written a long time ago
In scrolls found in tombs of the ancients you know

I’m a child of the goddess if they only could see,
But they choose to ignore it so they’ll never know me.

Now twisted by others there message grown cold

Each day that goes by I hope they will see,
But they all still ignore it so they’ll never know me.

They bled me and beat me and left me for dead
A crown of sharp thorns they did place on my head

I’ve been tied to a stake and nailed to a tree
They set me ablaze but I still did not flee

Despite what they’ve done I do not run away
For I am the truth and for truth I must stay

For the Phoenix doth rise from the ashes you see
And the Phoenix has risen. The Phoenix is me.

Thank you all so very much! It is so nice to have my words appreciated. Especially ones so personal to me. Writing that meant a lot to me personally, and it is very gratifing to have it enjoyed and appreciated by others.
