This item is some weeks old now (8 Oct) but explains the shortage of pumpkins in the shops!
Quote: Halloween lanterns will have a strange green tinge this year as bad summer weather has hit pumpkin growth.
Britain's leading pumpkin farmer says wet weather in June and July means that his crop is down by 30% and his pumpkins lack their traditional colour.
"It's a disaster. Everybody knows that pumpkins are orange," said David Bowman, whose Lincolnshire farm normally produces two million a year.
Mr Bowman said prices will rise and shops could sell out early.

We had the same problem over here this year. We had a couple of green jack-o-lanterns this year. It was so dry in Michigan that we only had three pumpkins even grow on our vines this year, and then they came out very small and two did not even change color and just stayed green. Very unusual.

Here in the Pacific NW, there were no problems. I actually saw a decent sized field totally mushed after the 31st...sad, really.
