Something needs to be done to sort out the many fraudsters that prey on those who need help or counselling, but I fear that many genuine spiritualists and those who use divination will be targeted. As with so many changes in laws, there are bound to be unforeseen consequences in the application (viz the Human Rights legislation).
And as somebody commented - it's "the thin end of the wedge for persecution of spritualists, druidary, hedge witches and all those who do not practice Christian based religions".
There are already adequate laws on fraud - why not use those? We seem to have a Government who is hell-bent and obsessed on creating new legislation where none are needed - indeed it's on record as having passed more legislation than any other Government in recent years.
Remember these changes would also apply to tarot readings and the like............ _________________
I don't live there...but to me it does seem like they are clutching at straws. I wonder if one of them got burned by a fake and now they are wanting to get back at what hurt them? It seems so very wrong. If there are laws on the books to cover fraud and the such...use them, don't get so specific of a group. _________________ "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." - Anatole France
I wonder if this new change in the law will target the true rip-off merchants, the 'mediums' that operate the expensive phone lines like 0898 and text your name kind of things
