From the BBC website:

Quote:
A story based on the Three Little Pigs fairy tale has been turned by a government agency's awards panel as the subject matter could offend Muslims.

The digital book, re-telling the classic story, was rejected by judges who warned that "the use of pigs raises cultural issues".

Becta, the government's educational technology agency, is a leading partner in the annual Bett Award for schools.

The judges also attacked Three Little Cowboy Builders for offending builders.

The book's creative director, Anne Curtis, said the idea that including pigs in a story could be interpreted as racism was "like a slap in the face".

This type of attitude *really* makes me see red.  To think that we have such lowlife making these decisions.

.....and these are the very people that, by their actions, are creating conflicts where none previously existed.

Absolutely Rik....... the more restrictions placed on people due to ridiculous decisions like this just tends to make people less tolerant and tensions rise.

It sickens me

Has anyone actually asked Muslims if they find it offensive? For Governement to just 'assume' is not only wrong, but also highly insulting!!

And if they do find it offensive, well, I find the idea of people blowing themselves to pieces (and all those within range)  in the name of Allah offensive, but I don't try and tell them that they can't do it!!

Sorry if that sounds really harsh (I'm still not feeling at all well, just ignore me, I do!! )

Minty.  xx

Not at all Minty ~ I think many normal people will share the same opinion but of course we not allowed to speak up because then we're deemed racist!!

It's bloody ridiculous that ANY country should have its identity stripped in case it offends others...... My opinion is very strong and can be upsetting to some folks but I don't give a shit......... if anybody comes here and is offended by our culture, our way of life etc then I'm sorry........ Go back home, its as simple as that really.

I wouldn't expect to go over to another country and start blowing people up because they dont believe in the Goddess, mouthing off becuase I find their way life offensive or moan because of a f***ing a nursery rhyme!!!!
