Starhawk

Anybody read The Spiral Dance by Starhawk? I found it the library today ................. looks quite interesting.

I've got it and read some of it but gave up. It is very feminist based and as such I just couldn't get much from it myself personally.

Mmmm ........... I must admit that when I quickly flicked through it, it did seem to have a lot of the Goddess word in it, so I did hesitate as I'm not a 'Goddessy' person! But I'll see how far I get with it. Thanks hun!

I have heard of it, but never read it. Let me know how you get on please, hun. We have fairly similar taste, and I'd like to know what it's like.

Course I will Minty! I'll probably start dipping into it over the next couple of nights. I use the term 'dipping' as I usually have several books on the go at once! Reading

Same here, SC! hehe. My nickname around the house is 'bookworm'.

The verdict ...................... well I certainly didn't read it cover to cover, as it just didn't grip me or get me interested enough, plus it was far too Goddessy for me. It was also very women-only coven oriented with loads of group chants etc. The only bit I really found a bit interesting was her take on working magick and spellwork. So, a 'thumbs down from me on that one!

But like any critic, that's only my personal opinion ~ someone else with different beliefs/ways of doing things, especially if more goddess-oriented, might ejoy it.

I checked out her website, and I can't say that I was all that impressed. She is very Goddess biased, and to me that is bad as being too God biased. One of the things that first drew me to explore paganism was the concept of the dual aspect of the Divine, both Goddess and God working together.

Still, I suppose she's harmless enough. Whatever tickles your fancy, eh?

Starhawk's writing have never floated my boat, too biased toward the Feminine-- Not very balanced is my honest summation.
