I would tend to agree, Minty and Mystress

Out of the new assistants, I confess I much preferred Catherine Tate, even tho' I didn't like her as a comedian in her own shows.  I was very sorry to see her go.

In the original series........ Leela rated quite high..........

I wanted to be like Leela, but more of a Sarah-Jane Smith (which is also very nice).

Jo Grant was not like a Zoe or a Liz Shaw; Mel was the worst (that scream!   )

Oh Mel (Bonnie Langford)............ was the pits!   I'm sure lots of loyal viewers emigrated when she appeared.

that's very likely.  they blame Sylvester McCoy for the demise of the original Dr. Who but I'm thinking Mel killed it for most of us

How true.  Actually I thought Sylvester McCoy was rather good - especially considering the 'lean' years with Colin Baker and Peter Davison.  Tho' not putting any blame on those actors - it was often the appalling scripts which let them, and McCoy, down and allowed the series to slump into oblivion.

I did mention earlier that Tom Baker wasn't a favourite of mine, but I have to say the quality of script writing for the series was superb in his time.  And I also thought the definitive Master was the late Roger Delgado!   Not even John Simm could match his overpoweringly evil yet polite personality!  But that's just a personal opinion!  lol

You're right about the bad scripts, Riktor48.

The new series isn't up to snuf compared with the Tom years (or the originals).  Davros and Daleks lost a lot of their cold hard terror-inducing nature.  Daleks cracking jokes isn't right...

I find it hard to tell the best Master, but Roger Delgado invented the Master and all others just follow behind.  Again, the new series doesn't have a certain something, something that diminishes the quality of intensity... don't know how to say it... and John Simms isn't "Master" enough it seems to me..

Condiments!

So David Tennant has announced that 2009 will be his last series playing The Doctor.  Who would you like to see play the next one?  Any thoughts anyone?

loved Tennant.  I don't know of candidates to replace him.

Waiting for someone to post new season on YouTube.  also, the new season of Kingdom...

Thank you for the info (it helps me to start the mourning process now..)
