Nerthus was an ancient Germanic earth goddess. She was known since the time of the Roman Empire. Tacitus, the Roman historian in 1st-2nd century AD, identified Nerthus with the Roman goddess Terra Mater. Nerthus was a popular goddess since she was worshipped by seven Germanic tribes – Reudigni, Aviones, Anglii (Angles), Varini, Eudoses, Suarines and the Huitones.

have just finished "outlaw" by Angus Donald it's a story about Robin Hood but without the usual romantic type stuff about robbing from the rich and giving to the poor ,Robin does rob the rich ,but is more like a modern day gangster running a protection racket and the expence of the villages of Sherwood ,it's best quality for me is that it deals with outlaw life in the 1100's in a hard tough bloodthristy manner as I think it would have been.
