have just finished "outlaw" by Angus Donald it's a story about Robin Hood but without the usual romantic type stuff about robbing from the rich and giving to the poor ,Robin does rob the rich ,but is more like a modern day gangster running a protection racket and the expence of the villages of Sherwood ,it's best quality for me is that it deals with outlaw life in the 1100's in a hard tough bloodthristy manner as I think it would have been.
a second book in the series in out next year

sounds interesting, FS. will check it out. those story's that drop the usual romantized version of the tale are always interesting. Thanks!
